Slick Shoota is an Oslo-based producer known for producing high energy club hybrids. His productions takeinspiration from a myriad of sources, among them Chicago’s footwork and the UK’s jungle and a host of other types of club music. With his productions he has carved out a unique sound that bridges both historical and geographical gaps, a sound that is well defined and exploratory at the same time.
Together with Skawr and Drippin he runs acclaimed clubnight and label Ball ‘Em Up, which has seen success in Norway, hosting performers like Sinjin Hawke and Zora Jones, Visionist, Jam City and Yung Lean. This eclectisism in the club night’s guests is also reflected in Slick’s performances, digging for tracks on the internet for hours on end to keep his sets unpredictable and entertaining.
Slick has received support from several notable producers and dj’s, like Scratcha DVA, Machinedrum, Oneman, B. Traits, Monki, DJ Spinn & DJ Rashad and the whole Teklife Crew. In November 2015 it was announced that Slick Shoota would join the legendary Teklife crew as an official member.
Moscow’s Pixelord delivers a refined, emotive melting pot of sounds that stands alone in the ever evolving world of electronic music. Tough and touching in the same breath, Alexey Devyanin is at the forefront of an ever-evolving Russian scene that many consider one of most exciting musical developments in recent years.
Pixelord sits among a current wealth of producers where sound dominates over genre, mashing elements of Futuristic Bass, Footwork, Garage and Grime together into a unique take on bass music. Over the past year Pixelord has released music for tastemaker labels such as Error Broadcast, Leisure System, Infinite Machine, Hyperboloid, Civil Music, Opal Tapes (Gultskra Artikler side project) to critical acclaim.
In 2014 Pixelord performed at the first ever Boiler Room in Russia, toured USA and China. In 2015 collaborated with Marcos Zotes to make soundtrack for videomapping installation in Moscow and releases his first long play record ‘Places’ on vinyl.
Sep. 23 2016 sees the release of his sophomore album “Human.exe” by Hyperboloid Records. It has a lot of positive feedback and represent a darker side of Pixelord`s music output.
Mysterious on stage, Dehousy deluges the bass music world with his optimistic, deliberately techno-like productions and catchy melodies. His watchwords always being originality, character, musicality and technique. Percussionist and pianist during his early days, his boundless thirst for learning allowed him to develop a unique style. During the early 2010’s his music skims over grime and UK bass which will later become his predominant style. This promising artist cleverly incorporates oriental tones as well as exotic percussions and takes an active part in the revival of the Parisian scene. While polishing his compositions, Dehousy travels across the world with one thing in mind: setting the dancefloor on fire and passing on a richer and more lively story to the public.
Cloaka has been making a stir in the UK bass scene with radio play on Rinse FM, BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Capital Xtra to name a few. Now running his own label ‘Heretic’ focusing on Bass heavy dancefloor music. Having previous releases on Madtech, Four 40 records & Concrete Music and remixes for Infinite Machine, Discos Dead, MDNGHT Records. With many more releases in the pipeline.
London-born and Bordeaux-bred for half his life, DJ and producer Kouslin found perhaps his biggest musical inspiration in this contrasting geography. Holding a life-long passion for UK music, along with an astute awareness of its French equivalent whilst growing up, spurred on the young producer to make his first steps into the world of DJ-ing and producing at the tender age of 15.
Coupled with this thirst for music-making, came a desire to dabble in other areas too, most notably event curation, where Kouslin introduced the sounds of the UK to a French crowd through his “Vibe” club night.
After knocking up a string of EP and remix releases in the past few years on labels such as MDNGHT, Infinite Machine, Heretic and his own, Le Chatroom Records, and attracting the attention of radio stations like BBC Radio 1Xtra, Rinse FM, NTS and Radar Radio, there can be no doubt that Kouslin’s career has got off to a solid start. He’s also landed himself a healthy gig schedule headlining and accompanying names such as Objekt, Pearson Sound, French Fries, Hodge and Breach.
Whilst garnering the support from the likes of Toddla T, My Nu Leng, Ben UFO, Peverelist and Marcus Nasty with his recent releases, Kouslin has now secured a corner in a competitive music scene with his, and his fellow Le Chatroom member’s unique sound. The label’s first release, “LCR001,” gained write-ups on DJMag, When We Dip and Watch the Hype.
Italian producer Lorenzo BITW had a really strong 2016: he emerged as one of the most successful figures to come out of the Classical Trax camp; had a string of appearances on Rinse and Radar; dropped a remix of Mina and Nenneh’s “Shake Shake” as a free download on Keysound; and capped it all off with “Storm”—a huge collab between himself, Nico Lindsay and TSVI that became one of the year’s surprise smashes and a staple in many DJs’ sets. Recently Lorenzo released the single “Goo” featuring London MC Kwam, under his brand new label BITW.
Circular Jaw co-founder Nuvaman, known for making noise out in the Worcestershire countryside, unites with Gallah on a heavy-weight Grime/Dubstep track for Pitch Riders debut release. Following from previous releases on stateside labels TAR and Jelly Bean Farm, Nuvaman also flies the flag for UK Jungle with his label Hygrade. Championing a versatile sound, he’s known for pushing outside the confides of genre, twisting breakbeats with melodic futurism.
Sadyr Diouf is the individual in which the creative spirit of KORO resides…
Coming from France, of Senegalese decent, he is a young artist experiencing his highest excitement through music and the arts. With a background in breakdance, music and graffiti, the entity has manifested through different art forms creating a sense of ‘KOROstyle’. The music, the dance, the art represent the mediums in which the mindstate of the entity KORO expresses itself. His tracks are a collision of soft, angelic melodies with heavy, gritty baselines.
Having recently released a 12’’ vinyl entitled “SAI SAI” on Section 8 Recordings Fall of 2014, the artist has gained a strong line of support in the Grime and Dubstep community from artists including Joe Nice, TRUTH, Seven, Kelly Dean, Starkey, Dev79, DJ Cable, Gremlinz, Sinistarr, Von D, Crises, ARtroniks, Robokop and more.
Having played shows in the Bristol U.K., Madrid Spain, Shanghai China, and the East US coast, and having also shared the stage with Von D, Seven, Sir Spyro, Hi5ghost, Gridlok, Borgore, Run DMT, Conrank, Bass Science, Krueger etc. KOROstyle continues to gain international support and recognition.
Midlands man FoxMind is one third of the Birmingham based label and collective, Circular Jaw. Having recently released a killer remix of Arma’s ‘Safari’ on prjkts as well as putting out tracks on Classical Trax, Eatmybeat and Jelly Bean Farm, he comes to Pitch Rider’s debut release as a label, with a collaboration with Lorenzo BITW (see above to listen to the track).
His ‘melting pot’ approach to production makes FoxMind almost impossible to pin down to a certain sound. His tracks tend to be an eclectic blend of dancehall/gqom drum work coupled with samples and synth sounds which take UK rave culture as their main point of reference.
